Attendance

Glantane N.S. encourages regular attendance at school and we urge parents to work positively with us in achieving a high standard of school attendance for each and every child.

When a child has to be absent from school, the class teacher should receive a written explanation from the parent for every absence.

The Education (Welfare) Act 2000, which has now been signed to law, addresses the whole area of school attendance.

The Child and Family Agency-Tusla- will in future monitor school attendance.

TUSLA Child and Family Agency

The school must inform the Education Welfare Officer in writing, where a child has missed 20 or more days in a school year, where attendance is irregular, where a pupil is removed from the school register and where a child is suspended or expelled for 6 days or more.

As we have adopted the Aladdin  School Management system, parents can now enter online via their Aladdin App the reason for their child’s absence and monitor the amount of days that they have been absent from school. If you have not already downloaded the App please contact the school office for assistance.
